Position Summary
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following:
coordination of instructional programs and/or teaching assigned
classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students
fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content;
assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and
up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing
professional development; utilizing current technology in the
performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional
conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position;
assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review;
serving on college committees and participating in faculty
governance including accreditation and student co-curricular
activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area
dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time
faculty member.
The assignment may include instructing classes, which could result
in an Instructional/Coordinator split assignment.
Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree,
upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional
occupational experience per the(the initial maximum placement is

Typical Duties
Typical duties may include, but re not limited to:
- Assisting the Associate Dean/Academy Director in the
development, evaluation, and implementation of the POST and
California Standards and Training for Corrections Courses.
- Assisting the Associate Dean/Academy Director in the
development, evaluation, and implementation of all Center programs
and courses.
- Orienting new instructors to their assignments and
obligations.
- Creating, updating and submitting course information and
scheduling within POST's Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
- Reviewing, developing, revising and improving curricula.
- Assisting the Associate Dean/Academy Director in the
recruitment, screening, selecting, and reviewing of suitable
instructors for the Center.
- Preparing, reviewing, and tracking the testing procedure for
all students.
- Conducting program/course evaluations and providing the Dean
and certifying agencies with information on instructor/student
performance ratings.
- Teaching responsibilities, if assigned:
- Serving on the Basic Law Enforcement Academy Advisory
Committee.
- Assisting with Program Review.
- Assisting with curriculum and articulation projects.
- Creating CTE and Perkins reports.
- Participating in Peer Review Teams.
- Ensuring year-round coverage at the Center, as permitted under
the LRCFT contract.
The SRPSTC Coordinator is also responsible for the POST Basic Law
Enforcement Modular Academy:
- Coordinating the instruction and management of the POST Basic
Law Enforcement Modular Academy Instructional system.
- Planning, organizing, scheduling, and overseeing of the
American River College POST Basic Law Enforcement
- Modular Academy program and other POST law enforcement
courses.
- Stressing ethics and professionalism through their conduct in
all aspects of the training program.
- Supporting official organizational values and goals.
- Ensuring compliance with the highest ethical standards
exemplified by the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, Faculty/Staff
and Student Codes of Conduct.
- Integrating and sequencing of instruction.
- Assuring the effective use and understanding of instructional
methods, technology, testing and remediation.
- Developing staff recommendations.
- Assigning staff and coordinating the evaluation of
instructional staff, Recruit Training Officers and supervision of
staff.
- Manage training expenditures.
- Managing the oversight of student separation/dismissal
procedures with the Associate Dean/Academy Director.
- Meeting periodically with the Associate Dean/Academy Director
to actively participate in the instructor evaluation process.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and professional training
environment.
- Attending the Academy Director/Coordinator workshop within one
year of appointment.
- Developing a written student performance appraisal system that
provides feedback to the student in their mastery of the
competencies.
- Preparing reports on student performance consistent with
organizational policy, and making those reports available to
potential employers.
The instructional teaching assignment may include, but are not
limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Biology at the
college including:PSTC 1501: PC 832 Arrest, Search & SeizurePSTC
1502: Basic Law Enforcement Academy- Module IIIPSTC 1503: Basic Law
Enforcement Academy- Module IIPSTC 1504: Basic Law Enforcement

Minimum Qualifications
- Have a bachelor's degree and two years of professional
experience in the subject matter area to be taught; OR, have an
associate's degree, and six years of professional experience in the
subject matter area to be taught; OR, the equivalent.* All degrees
must be from an accredited institution, completed by time of
hire.
- Have 2 years peace officer first-level supervisory experience
(most commonly the rank of sergeant).
- Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to
and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic
backgrounds of community college students, including those with
physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in
learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive
educational and employment environment.
