Position description
Temporary positions are anticipated for lecturers in Landscape
Architecture and Environmental Design throughout the 2024-2025
academic year.

below. This list includes area of degree and experience required to
effectively teach these courses. It is possible that courses may be
added or omitted from this list as the year progresses. Below is a

Appointment
Date: Several appointments are made each year. The number of
courses assigned for each appointment may vary depending on type of
course and percentage of appointment.

Winter Quarter 2025: January 3 - March 21
Spring Quarter 2025: March 27 - June 12

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach one or more undergraduate studio
and/or lecture courses in the Landscape Architecture and/or
Sustainable Environmental Design majors. Teaching may also involve
field trips, exhibitions, special projects and guest speakers.
Candidates may be offered one to four courses for the year
depending on programmatic need and candidate's availability.
General Information: The Landscape Architecture and Environmental
Design Program in the Department of Human Ecology at the University
of California, Davis, offers approximately 35 courses annually. The
Landscape Architecture program includes approximately 70
undergraduate upper-division Landscape Architecture (LDA) majors
who are admitted via a highly competitive review process and
another 100 undergraduate Pre-Landscape Architecture majors.
Additionally there are over 230 Sustainable Environmental Design
(SED) majors.
Seven individuals who comprise the permanent faculty typically
teach 40% of the undergraduate courses, while lecturers teach 60%
of the courses. Lecturers are selected to fill specialized
positions that require their professional as well as academic
expertise. In any given year, open positions and requirements for
individuals to fill them will vary according to permanent faculty
teaching assignments. Positions may be full-time or part-time,
depending on schedules and expertise.

ecological sustainability. It is located in the Sacramento valley
72 miles northeast of San Francisco and 15 miles from Sacramento,
California's capital.
Salary and Appointment Level: Commensurate with experience and
course assignment.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
* Appropriate professional degree [minimum requirement is an
accredited Bachelors in LA (BLA), Masters (MLA) or Ph.D., Masters,
Ph.D. is preferred, e.g., in Human Ecology, Landscape Architecture
and Environmental Design Program, or equivalent discipline];
* Evidence of teaching excellence or potential for excellence;
and
* A developing record of scholarly or professional achievement in
an area of expertise related to a subject area described in this
announcement.
