  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for an experienced Med Surg/Tele RN for a travel contract.
  • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience.
    • Job Requirements
    • Must hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and a CA License.
    • Need 2 supervisor references (charge accepted) at submittal; 1 within 12 months & 1 within 3 years worked.
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts: 12-hour shifts starting at 0645 and 1845.
      • Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW).
      • Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).
      • Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • # beds: 37
        • Ratios: 1:5 for Tele and, on occasion, for the BH patients
        • EMR: Cerner
        • Charge Nurse: The traveler would not be expected to be in charge of the unit.
        • Nurse Aides: Yes, ratio 1:19
        • Drips: Yes, limited cardiac drips
        • Vents: No
        • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Hospitalists
        • IV Team: Yes but focuses on PICC placement
        • RT 24/7: Yes
        • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
        • Floating: Yes
        • Floor specific orientation: Yes, somewhat limited - 2-3 shifts
        • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Medical-Surgical and Behavioral Health;12hr Nights, EOW, First to Float
          • Additional Details
          • Modules are required to be done before start of assignment. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital.
          • The manager has 24 hours to rescind the offer, if necessary.
          • The DYSRHYTHMIA EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH RELIAS IS REQUIRED TO BE SENT ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE within 48 hours. It's pass or fail and they get two attempts.
          • Unit: Med Acute 4N
          • Nurse's Read Strips?: Done by Monitor Tech but RN expected to be able to recognize rhythms and act accordingly.
