Position: Project Staff Accountant
Pay Rate: $20.00 /hourly
Location: Stockton, CA
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Job Description:
We are seeking a Project Staff Accountant that will support
critical areas of growing portfolio of work, primarily focusing on
fiscally sponsored initiatives, grant-funded projects, and other
special projects, as well as adding additional capacity to the
general accounting functions of the organization. The position is
partly external facing and will need to interface with various
stakeholders such as fund holders, vendors, independent
contractors, government representatives, and nonprofit
organizations. The position is also collaborative, requiring
working with internal staff outside of the finance department.
Therefore, the Project Staff Accountant will have high standards
for collaboration, teamwork, and customer service, and be able to
excel in public interaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Accounting: provides accounting support to special
projects (e.g., fiscally sponsored initiatives, grant-funded
projects) and works with fund advisors or project managers to
prepare a variety of accounting outputs such as project budgets,
pre-billing reports, issue invoices, process AP to vendors and
subcontractors, and supplier bills. Attends Project Management
meetings and provides project managers and clients with timely
financial reports and budgets. Provides general support to program
staff as needed.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: records vendor invoices in the
financial/accounting system (C-Suite); produces checks or online
payments approved for payment in a timely fashion; maintains vendor
profiles. Maintains accounts receivable and grants payable files.
Assists In processing grant distribution requests.
- Vendor and Contractor Onboarding: initializes and follows
through the process to onboard vendors and independent contractors,
preparing all necessary documents and contracts for final review
and approval by managing staff.
- General Accounting: provides general accounting such as
compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entry to
the general ledger accounts, coordinates the preparation and
distribution of quarterly fund holder statements, and records
processed deposits in bank accounts and transfers to/from other
financial institutions.
- Information Management: Maintains C-Suite including general
ledger, accounts payable, profiles, gifts, donors, grants, and
funds. Builds records for new funds, donors, grantees, and vendors
in C-Suite and establishes electronic as well as hard file
documentation. Generates customized reports, charts, and graphs
from data extracted from the C-Suite database as requested to
assist other staff or committee projects.
- Audit and Tax: Assists the Director of Finance and external
auditor in the preparation of the required schedules for the annual
audit and tax returns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to embrace the Foundation's core values in all

- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting
preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting or fund accounting
preferred.
- Experience in managing an integrated accounting system
preferred.
- Familiarity with grants and donor management software is
desirable.
- Demonstrated Excellent oral and written communication skills as
well as keen analytical skills.
- Proven track record of exceeding goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to
work with diverse people and groups in multicultural
environments.
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Package
(Outlook/Work/Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro).
- Highly Motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative,
manage time effectively, and follow through.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Passion for the non-profit sector and the mission of the
Foundation.
